Update 0400521: Came back to order more, found the price had almost doubled in less than a year. We're so sick of this third-party trend on Amazon! There is absolutely no legitimate reason for prices to fluctuate so much and so quickly. We've left our original review below as our opinion on the quality of the product hasn't changed, aside from the fact that it doesn't stick to cardboard as well as we'd like. But of course our search for an honest supplier continues. Don't you hate reordering something you love and trust but bought a year or more ago only to find that either the price has gone up A LOT or it's no longer available? The latter seems to be the case most often with packaging materials. No matter how well they're rated, there's a whole new range of brands to choose from every year, which means you have to spend an extra hour or three trying to sort through all the conflicting reviews of unknown brands and figure out which one is the best-priced. Value for money - quality. Well a month ago when we bought this tape it was without a doubt the best price we found. And after shipping a few dozen boxes we were confident in its quality, especially for this money. We can only hope that in a year or two they will still be available and at the same competitive price, which is likely given our meager supply if we need more. These are large rolls that fit into typical industrial tape dispensers (you know, the big pistol-grip kind); Big reels that take full advantage of your dispenser, why so many companies are messing around with half size (or smaller!) reels, I don't understand. The tape itself is average weight - thick enough not to wrinkle unless you're very careful, but it's not ideal for heavy packages like audio amplifiers or receivers. This is an excellent weight balance for most typical package weights. It's not so clear that you can read the inscription on the paper core. Although I've never understood why anyone needs it. It may look yellow on a roll, but it doesn't even remotely look yellow when applied. We fully cover the tracking barcode on the packages we send with it, and even with an inkjet printer on ink saver mode that prints medium gray it's still clear enough for the post office to scan the tape. Apparently it sticks to plastic mailers like glue. Some point out that the type of adhesive used for this type of tape, while common, can stretch when applied to cardboard. We didn't notice this issue ourselves and tested a few of these before using them to see if there were any signs of adhesion loss after a few days. So far it feels just as tacky as even the heavier brands we've bought in the past cost more than twice as much. I can only assume that someone who peeled the tape off either had a bad kit, which I've never seen in 20 years of buying packaging tape, even from the cheapest brands, or they didn't apply it correctly , like most manufacturers. I recommend rubbing. I find that heating the glue this way holds it better. We usually go over it a couple of times with a wooden roller, but just rubbing it with your fingertips is enough. Of course you have to make sure that the roller on the dispenser is properly pressed against the box. Great price for a good band. Easy to recommend, all in all.
