Review on OFILA Background Buildings Traditional Photography by Katie Richards

We like the images on this background, but this background prints below average. Of the many backgrounds we own, this archived street background is the worst printed. (a) The image is a few shades darker than the images shown in the Revain product listing, also (b) the image is mottled and the resolution is surprisingly low. Luckily we shoot most scenes at f/1.2 to get a blurry, buttery smooth cream background - and this background looks amazing when shot with blur! However, some of our shots are taken at f/4 or faster for crisp backgrounds. Unfortunately, we cannot use this particular background for shots with crisp backgrounds due to its poor print quality. (Tip: If you're shooting with a background, make sure your background is lit separately from your actor, and your actor has good lighting; PLUS rim light (hair light) to light up the head, neck, and shoulders slightly - this separates the Actors from the background, which adds depth to the scene. And to add even more depth to your scenes, place one or more objects between your actor and the background (e.g. a standing plant to the side, a floor lamp, etc.)
