Review on πŸͺ’ Je&Co Silvertip Badger Hair Shaving Brush - Handmade Fine Resin Handle, Stainless Steel Base (Black) by Ashley Baldwin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Just as good as the expensive Silvertips

Original Review 12/23/18: I've been using The Art of Shaving Fine Badger Shaving Brush for about 5 years. My wife gave it to me for Christmas so I don't know the exact price she paid 5 years ago but I checked on their website on December 23rd 2018 and found they cost $120. As you can see from the two attached photos it is time to replace it. After an exhaustive search on Revain, I settled on a handcrafted shaving brush from JE&CO Home made from 100% pure silver badger hair. I paid $22.99 and am very happy with my decision. I will not make a direct comparison to the Art of shaving brush as mine was in good condition and certainly needed replacing. However, I think the bristles of the JE&CO Home brush are longer than those of the AoS brush. JE&CO brush bristles are soft but foam well. I've been using it for a week now and have noticed minimal hair loss. I hope this one lasts 5 years but if it only lasts a few years I feel good. JE&CO Home has done quite well. It doesn't pill much and at the same time gives good lather. As you can see from the additional photos I've included, the only piece of plastic on the brush broke when I dropped it in the shower. Also, the spring that holds the badger fur together has come out of the metal head. I used 5 minute epoxy to glue it back on. I replaced the plastic body with a piece of African Paduk wood that was turned on a lathe. No more worrying about it breaking if I drop it again. The pado is hard as a hammer; I know because I made a hammer out of a larger piece. With the same bristle shedding rate, the shaving brush will last at least 2-3 years. I still think it was a very good buy.
