This is great advice and I recommend it to all iGo system users. Basically, it's a USB charging port. I won't say it works for all USB devices, but it worked for almost everything I plugged into it. Quick warning: anything that requires more than 500mA to initiate charging will not work. I should note that I do not have and will not have Apple mobile devices, but from what I understand they require 1.2A to charge. Let me tell you a story. I was on an extended trip in an assisted living facility. I have one of those portable media gateways that I take with me on long trips. I had a new 500GB Buffalo Pocket hard drive that I loaded up with media and took with me. I have not tested it with the system. It turns out that it needs power from 2 USB ports to work. The Media Gateway only had 1 USB port. Enter this little tip. Connect the USB power cable to the handpiece and the USB mass storage cable to the media gateway. Voila!
