They are inexpensive. The design is reliable, simple and easy to inspect. The rating gives limits of 1000W and 200°C. * A 100W lamp works at around 120°C outdoors. * 250W T10 halogen lamp operates at 257°C outdoors. * Bakelite base (max temperature 250°C)* Aluminum electrodes (max temperature 470°C) and brass (max temperature 450°C).* Solder doesn't melt, just two screws. a 200w T10 bulb or most regular single sided bulbs in it and stay within spec but be careful with halogen bulbs. With normal use you are limited to the candelabra base before you are limited to this adapter. NOTE: Look at your fixture, lamp, lighting kit, or whatever you plan to install. If this limit is lower than this limit, USE THE LOWER LIMIT. The fact that this adapter can handle high wattage doesn't magically replace the wiring in a 60w table lamp or 100w patio light. cozy.
