Not ideal for Injustice 2

I bought this tablet primarily for the Injustice 2 because I had some issues with dpad input on a standard tablet. Since the game is designed for use with a tablet, I figured Fighting Commander would be the answer. I had a previous version of this panel, I think for the latest generation of consoles, and I have to say that this design has improved. It no longer has the silly shape of the right horn being much longer than the left, but it's still angled enough to support the "claw" button location. To be honest the shape feels very good in the hand and is perfectly weighted which is the best thing about the controller. If you get this for Killer Instinct, this could be a winner. HOWEVER I mainly play Injustice 2 and it wasn't fantastic for this game. Note that RB and RT are face buttons, and LB and LT are "right shoulder" buttons - the left shoulder buttons are programmable auxiliary buttons. You CAN reprogram the buttons directly on the pad, but there are limitations. What I really need as an Injustice 2 player are four buttons on the shoulders. You can make LT and LB behave like RB and RT and program RB and RT to behave like LT and LB, which you can assign to additional keys. If this seems very complicated, it's because ultimately it's not worth buying EXCLUSIVELY for Injustice 2. I think it would be if the dpad was a notable improvement over the stock keyboard, but to be honest it's a bit stiff and not a noticeable improvement. Also, there's no right stick function, so you can't rotate your character in Gear mode. Finally, when you use RB for Meter Burn, you'll notice that your finger now tends to be farther from the face buttons. To fix this problem, I made YXRTRB my face buttons, and I won't explain everything. In summary I think this is a good small rug at the right price with good build quality. I believe they just took the "Street Fighter" format of this pad and stuck the XBox One board in without doing any research. I'd love to see Hori make some appropriate changes to show that they've really done their homework on the games that are actually on the platform. PS I found that disabling all the 'bottom' options on the button configuration screen, such as negative margin, labels, forbearance on typing, etc. really helped with some of my typing errors.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
