Review on Crafting Clay 🎨 Charms Kit by Klutz by Adam Cooper

Great book and set!

I love this book! The instructions are very clear and the charms are so cute. This is a great activity if you have a wide age range as both big and small children will be interested and the big kids can help the little ones. The kids immediately jumped on him and started doing something. A 9-year-old child was able to reproduce the spell from the book. The 4-5 year olds weren't great but they were happy to do their own (bigger) interpretations. Fun for the whole family. There isn't much clay, but enough to make many small amulets. You need more clay if you have younger kids! They used up the clay that came with the kit, so I went to Walmart to stock up on oven-baked polymer clay (bought the Sculpey brand for a dollar a block). The book is accompanied by a large number of metal screw lugs for charms and jump rings, but only one bracelet with charms. (I ended up buying an extra chain and lobster clasps from Walmart. Using the provided rings and a good pair of pliers, I made some extra charm bracelets so everyone can have their own!) There's also frosting to make the charms sparkle leave, and a fold a paper stand so you can hang the amulets while you glaze them. A very well thought out kit. We used our toaster to bake the amulets following the instructions in the book and they turned out great. Highly recommended! It's best to screw the loops into the clay so that they don't fall out after baking, instead of putting them in right away. This is difficult for small hands, so an adult can take over. If they pop out, just use a dab of super glue. And if you run out of grommet loops, there are a number of vendors on Etsy who sell them.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • A few little things
