As my dog gets older (he is 10 years old now) he becomes more and more restless in the car. Our vet suggested getting him a hammock so he would feel safe and have his own space in the car. It was incredibly easy to install (although I'm hesitant to install it because it really was easier). It took maybe 5 minutes and then we were ready to go. It's also very easy to take apart and store in the trunk when you don't need it. And the most important thing: It works. My dog is less likely to shake and sit in the back seat than try to move forward, and overall is less breathless and less restless in the car.
