If your child rides a real bike that is high off the ground I would NOT recommend this helmet. However, if your child is riding their first tricycle that is LOW off the ground, I would recommend this. My little one turned 2 last week and this helmet fits her perfectly. So I am concerned that she will only wear this helmet until she is 3 years old as opposed to the packaging saying it is 3-5 years old. Your head circumference is 50%. This is the Starbucks cup's thin plastic for the cap (with a design) and the high-performance compacted packaging foam for the helmet itself. That's why it's so light. The straps inside are really itchy around the ports and my kid has a rash under his chin which is where that part sucks. I need to find some kind of lining to glue it to. The design of the label and the design of the helmet don't match, but it doesn't really matter. All in all, for $11 this is a good first helmet for their first trike.
