Absolutely bad development! This USB hub gets very hot no matter what you connect it to, and gets even hotter when you connect higher-powered devices via USB. It will quickly drain the battery of whatever you use it for, and the external power supply will only heat it up even more! The heat is dissipated to the connector pins, especially the smaller ones like the SD card slot. When I inserted the micro SD card I used a thermometer and it was over 200 degrees Fahrenheit! There was randomly corrupted data on the SD card due to extreme heat, luckily I was able to eject the card before it burned out and retested the same file transfer on a different SD card reader and it worked. Too annoyed to return this waste of money but only because I added a small fan to the hub and can keep the heat in. If the case wasn't metal so I could cool the innards directly, I would have returned the product immediately. Otherwise all functions work perfectly. But you can damage the USB port fuse of some phones or laptops due to power overload if you don't make sure you connect an external power supply to the hub. Don't expect to use this for long periods of time unless you're using the fan on the hub. Extreme heat is never good for electronics. This stroke reaches over 150 degrees and some metal on the terminals can be measured close to 200 degrees. I can tinker with things and fix this problem, but everyone else, be careful. Can you imagine your cell phone being used to power a small heater that could burn your skin if you keep exposing your skin? That's what this USB hub does 100% for you, and for a computer or mobile device, it may not be healthy for a long time. Shame on the electrical engineers who did this. Basic common sense had to go into this design.
