Used after a surgical procedure. The ones they gave me in the hospital had a sticky base that irritated my skin. They didn't have a sticky base. They are cuttable and soft. They do the work they say they should do. The application has reduced the bruising and swelling in the areas I needed. I've seen some people wash and reuse them. I wouldn't recommend it as it changes the physical structure of the foam and can make it wavy - last thing you want is wavy. They should be even and smooth.
