Spring gates are not as strong as they should be.
I received 5 in my order ("5 pcs in stainless steel with round beads, shortening ring with lobster clasp"). Look great, stainless steel, polished. I had very good spring gates; 3 had mediocre spring gates; and one had a very flimsy spring latch (won't close on its own).
