My 3 and 5 y/o granddaughters are really enjoying this toy, which is great because I’ve been looking for ways to involve them in more active play than Barbies and dollhouses and toy kitchens. Nothing wrong with those and all the pretend playing that goes along with them, but I feel they need the physical action, too. This is a great way for young children to learn to throw and catch things, and since it’s so easy to "catch” the ball on the velcro covered plate-shaped mitt they already feel accomplished. They can play catch indoors or outdoors with it, too. For me, it’s a big plus that the toy comes with two balls, not just one, and an even bigger plus that the two mitts and two balls fit into an included carry bag for storage.I will say that the tennis-like ball sticks so firmly to the velcro surface of the mitt that it’s difficult for the 3 y/o to get the ball off to throw it again, but that firm stick-ability is also what makes it easier for the little ones to catch the ball. She’ll get better at it, and this toy will be useful for many years, I think.
