I bought this primarily for the AM radio range I could take on a walk. Due to the orientation of the built-in AM antenna, it is sometimes necessary to physically reposition the radio while walking. However, for this purpose it works very well and I'm glad I got it. However, I live in Arizona and must wear a sun hat. Headphones are not very comfortable, headphones would be much more useful. I've tried using spare headphones but the headphones also act as an FM antenna and sometimes I prefer FM programs. I tried different options, from cheap imitations to expensive noise canceling headphones. None of them offer FM antenna capabilities as well as the original companion headphones. I would certainly be open to suggestions from someone who finds the headphones better than I do. While they're far from ideal, I'm glad I made the purchase.
