Review on πŸ”‘ KeySmart Rugged: Multi-Tool Key Organizer with Bottle Opener & Pocket Clip (Holds up to 14 Keys, Black) by Justin Abrams

Not worth the money or the hassle.

Purchased to reduce the bulk of my keychain when in my pocket. While this made most of my keys thinner, I still had a large car key and a keychain dangling from one end, rendering the pocket clip (which you pay extra for) useless. Also, the screws that hold the key closed don't stay in place, requiring you to tighten them several times a day. However, if they are ever too tight, accessing your keys becomes an issue. If it's just a little too loose, then the key rolls, what then, what's the point? The worst thing for me is that the button selection and usage has evolved from a simple one-handed task to a full two-handed operation. Normally, I could pull the whole bunch of keys out of my pocket, choose a key, pinch a key between my index finger and thumb, take the rest of the keys with the same hand, and use the key. With a smart key, it works like a Swiss Army knife and requires two hands. I usually carry a bag or two with me and most of the time I have my hands full (student, gum manager and parent) so not being able to quickly access keys with one hand is a major inconvenience. I thought maybe it was something I just had to learn, but for two months I tried to stick with it and learn how to use it with one hand and I finally got fed up and went back to a standard keychain return. Maybe it's just user error, but if any of this helps someone decide whether to buy a smart key, I'd suggest it's probably great for someone who just has a lot of standard keys and always has two free hands to hold them to use.
