Review on Sony Z9F 3.1ch Soundbar with Dolby Atmos, Wireless Subwoofer & Surround Sound System for TV - HT-Z9F, Black by Hideo Tsuchida ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm amazed! It was definitely worth the money!

In general, I am very satisfied, I bought a soundbar in a small living room of 15m2 in a standard Brezhnev socket. Initially, I wanted to get confused with the receiver and JAMO s803 with atmosphere, but I looked at the stretch ceiling, at the baseboards where the wires should be shove, and it became hard. Yes, and there are not so many places. And then I thought, maybe the soundbars have advanced during this time? As it turns out, they've moved on. Went to a couple of stores - listened. Then he picked up a calculator and it turned out that it makes no sense to take a soundbar for 100,000, it’s easier to take a receiver and acoustics (and new ones), below 30,000 for the most part the sound of soundbars is a complete hat, especially subs. As a result, the golden mean stood out from 30,000 to 60,000 somewhere. To be honest, I was a little taken by Atmos in the characteristics of the Sony HT-ZF9. Type virtualization, etc. In general, there is no atmosphere, of course, BUT. Having played enough with a naked soundbar, I realized what it lacks - REAR! In general, I searched the Internet and found his native rear SA-Z9R. They cost like half a soundbar, BUT. This is a completely different level of guys. Still, for such a small room, even such small rears are VESCH ! Must have for this soundbar. From the remote control, the maximum volume is set to 12 on them, but this volume is visible in relation to the overall volume (as well as the volume of the subwoofer). Movies are now a pleasure to watch. Almost a full 5.1 system. Sounds very worthy. Of course, you can crawl around ebay and collect a used piece of iron and 5.1 and assemble it cheaper, but what Sony offered me in this version is the best option. For the complete set, it remains to buy a marble slab for the subwoofer (by the way, pay attention to the video from Sony exhibitions, it puts subwoofers on a stone) and you can no longer worry about the sound. Bottom line, Sony HT-ZF9 + SA-Z9R = great movie sound for small spaces. Don't expect Atmos and DTS:X from this bunch, but Sony turned out the sound for cinema and is excellent on this one. Oh yes, and MINIMUM wires.

Pros
  • Sound. Clear, clear. The bass doesn't rattle. Sub is excellent. The control is simple, you can even control the settings via HDMI-arc, i. E. original remote is not needed. For a room of 15 m2, more sound is not needed.
Cons
  • Appearance: without the grille looks dumb. Sleep mode: The soundbar somehow strangely falls into hibernation when the TV is on (if, for example, crawling through news sites in the browser built into the TV). Apparently there is somewhere how to set it up, but I did not find it. Wireless connection: sometimes loses the rear, one, is treated by restarting. But it was only a couple of times. Music: I will not say that I am satisfied. There is no equalizer, the sound strongly "embellishes". It was especially noticeable on my favorite YELLOs (YELLOs are considered almost the standard in terms of sound, live soundchecks are made on them). Moreover, a funny moment, the rear speakers do not work when playing music via WIFI, and by launching a video on Youtube, the same composition is displayed on the rear speakers as well.
