The camera was pretty easy to install and I'm only 15 years old. First, make sure you connect the camera to a working backup light. On the 2013 Ford Escape that I installed it on, I found that the only backup lights on the tailgate came on. Initially I connected them to the backup light on the main taillight. It actually worked very well. All the cables that were in the back were on the door. I drilled a hole 2" left of center of the license plate, about 1/2" below the license plate so you can't see the hole. I routed the cable from the camera through the hole and screwed it to the license plate. I used silicone sealant on the back to prevent water getting in, although I think it will be fine without sealant. Better to be safe than sorry. The wire that protrudes into the reversing light wires and the camera itself are neatly concealed behind a plastic panel that covers it. On the front, I wrapped extra wire around the suction cup mount every 15 feet. It is very useful that there is a USB port. It seems to work as expected and has a pretty solid construction. two thumbs up for me
