We started camping a few years ago and made some rookie mistakes like buying the biggest camping lights. Bigger should be better, right? Well, we haven't learned much when it comes to camping. As painful as it was for me to buy things we already have, I started replacing the big, bulky things with lighter, smaller, more efficient versions. I researched and compared for about a week and finally bought these MalloMe lights. They arrived quickly. The packaging failed (although packaging is not an important factor, a company that doesn't care about its packaging usually doesn't invest much in its product). As for the product, I love them! They are super light without feeling cheap. The LEDs are bright but diffuse in a "sphere" pattern so the light is not harsh like most compact LEDs. They take up almost no space, which is ideal for camping. I tested them with Panasonic rechargeable batteries. They start off bright and continue to glow (significantly dimmer) after 20 hours. This tells me that the LEDs are working fine without using a lot of current. Again, this is perfect for camping. I haven't tested them for water resistance, but I don't plan on using them outside in a downpour, so I'm not sure I care too much. Bottom line: I really like these little guys, especially the $20 four.
