Review on πŸ“Ί Tablo Dual LITE DVR for Cord Cutters - WiFi, Live TV Streaming, Commercial Skip - Black [TDNS2B-01-CN] by William Belczyk

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Exceeded my expectations in almost every way. I love this little box. I have two now. :)

The scoreboard is a small box containing 2 or 4 TV tuners that receive TV signals from the TV antenna and present them to you either (1) for live viewing or (2) for recording for later viewing. Table Dual Lite features two (2) tuners for live recording and viewing and allows for six (6) simultaneous streams of recorded content. I think it's AWESOME. Yes, there are currently some minor issues with iPhone and Android clients. You can use to view Tableau content (it needs a delay on startup to sync schedule data), but the Roku app doesn't require it, and if you use the app regularly the delay is just a little annoying. An app ready to use, it's great. It shows a fairly standard rectangular TV guide (the 24-hour guide is free, the 14-day guide is $4.99 per month), and the guide includes information about the show, each episode, and when it premiered was broadcast. Recording is easy and you can record single episodes or whole series (all episodes or just new episodes), you can limit it to specific channels if you have duplicates with different signal strength or series and you can choose how much you keep want. You can add a hard drive (an external drive to this unit via a USB port) to store your recordings locally (I use a $60 2TB drive on each of my Table Dual Lite units), or you can Tablo cloud storage ($4.99 per month for 64GB of storage). A limitation. The particular antenna you choose and how you position it can greatly affect your satisfaction with these boxes. Weak or no signal means bad luck. :(I live in an east facing house in the western suburbs of Atlanta and most of the towers are 15-20 miles from me and between 90 and 110 degrees according to tvfool.com. I tried three different antennas myself and each gave mixed results. The first was a flat antenna which I hung in the east window above and it received 22 channels but a couple of important network channels which I wanted did not receive very clearly and were pixelated. The second antenna was even smaller but in what -slightly better antenna that used 43 channels and it was mostly ok but it made me realize the antenna used was quite different even in the same location 3rd antenna attic antenna model GE 33692 reassembling this weird little bug I have put him in the box 73 channels, at least 50 of them are stable, happy, but with only 2 tuners and a lot of shows to record, I found that there were times when I didn't. I couldn't watch TV because both tuners were busy recording things I really needed, so I just took the second one off the table (restored) so I could guarantee a free tuner whenever I wanted. I used a splitter and some 3ft cables to connect both to the same GE antenna and they seem to pick up about 70 stations with very little loss compared to a single Tablo. So I'm very, very happy. Note: I've been watching TV with a projector and an Andriod or Roku box most of the time lately, so I can't see a lot of artifacts in the signals due to the initially crappy picture on my 100" screen, but I'm more interested in the 480p immersive than a smaller screen with 4K. :) For that reason I can't really say anything about the quality, other than to say that in terms of image quality I don't see anything disturbing at all, apart from a few 480p channels (1080p and 720p channels seem to break down pretty smoothly on my projector) I'll be getting a new big regular TV soon so I can make some more meaningful comments at this point but so far I'm very happy, particularly with the main body of LAN channels which are reasonably clear even when it's raining outdoors.
