the socket is highly recommended and these cameras do a great job. The notification will be triggered when it is 120 feet away or when there is strong wind. I changed coverage for an area, but I still get a notification. I think it's better than no warnings. I recommend this, the video is clear and the mic can pick up the conversation very well BUT when you're talking to someone it's not as good as RING does better than talking to someone. That's the only good thing about RING, apart from the fact that RING sucks
