Epiphany Reflections

January 6, 2020, Epiphany. The last evening my little star will shine. My bedroom window overlooks an arroyo, a deep stretch of desert sand and bushes, birds and animals that live between two rows of apartment buildings. my star from afar The photo blurs the light, but it's clearly a star even from a distance. It is such a wondrous mystery how the pagan sorcerers watched the star in the sky and saw in it a harbinger of the birth of the King of the Jews, even the Messiah. -King of all nations. They followed the star with confidence, knowing so little but trusting her enough. At great sacrifices of time and money, and trekking across the desert on camels for weeks and months, these wisest men demonstrated a radical, admirable faith for the sole purpose of honoring the greatest king of all time. When the star did indeed lead them to the house where baby Jesus lived, they knelt and bowed to him, presenting expensive and prophetic gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. I don't know if any of my neighbors noticed my little star. , or will know why it shone until that last night of January 6th. But nobody knows. Everyone desperately seeks the light that will lead us to the king of our heart's desires. It's just that we are all at different stages of understanding. Of course, turning on the light is easy. To be transformed by the Spirit of God so that my life points to the light of Christ: this is my prayer. A faint hope, but I can find courage because the light of Jesus is so wonderful, glorious, joyfully bright. We need only ask for eyes to see, feet to travel with faith, and hearts to worship the One True King.
