I bought this for a friend for her AA sobriety birthday. She liked it very much. This is a real abalone shell in the background, not a sticker as one reviewer mentioned. This is a beautifully polished sterling silver. However, I complain that it's too small to see the design clearly. You have to hold the necklace close to see that the tree is a beautiful dryad. The circumstance of the necklace needs to be larger for the design to stand out. This chain is very expensive for this size. I wouldn't buy it again. The most important thing is that my girlfriend really liked it and I think it was the right size for her.
