Review on Dell S2409W Widescreen Discontinued Manufacturer: High Resolution Wide Screen Display by Lake Cavender

Revainrating 5 out of 5

For those looking for it after this date.

Just read this for anyone after this date (29th December 2021) who is looking for this monitor for any reason. This is an old monitor. But I've had it since 2009, it came bundled with an old Dell desktop I bought that died sometime in 2011. But I always kept the monitor. I've used it on 2 desktops, 3 different laptops, moved to 3 different states and multiple different houses in the meantime, and here it is, almost 13 years later, as I buy a new monitor. I can't help but praise this monitor for its ruthless reliability. It looks dated by today's standards, but for 2009 having a 1080p 60Hz monitor was very important. Colors are a little washed out, especially if you're used to HDR, but it was great for the time. I don't play much on PC, so I can't make a recommendation. Mine still works, just buying something more modern and 4K. However, as they say, when I try to watch a video in 4K via YT, this monitor actually does something that displays it in just over 1080p (you can see the difference between the two), it's quite fascinating that it even has it it is capable of doing so. To many, this might seem like a so-so monitor. But I think it deserves at least one rating that exists in the annals of the internet praising it for its durability and reliability over the years. It's hard not to say. This is the best monitor I've ever had. And if one day it's considered "retro tech" and some kid wants to build a retro PC, this monitor will serve you well and I hope this review helped you decide.
