These are very nice looking headphones

Ok lets get that out of the way these headphones are great and just beautiful to look at. I would have to work very hard to find anyone who disagrees with me about the look of these glasses. I will break this review into 4 parts: Aesthetics, Build Quality, Comfort, and Sound. Aesthetics: As mentioned, these are very nice headphones. The appearance alone shows that Master & Dynamic put a lot of thought into the development of the MH40 and made sure that the design was perceived by the user. Aside from being a tool for listening to music, I think they're also a fashion statement for many people who like to stand out from the crowd (especially the brown/silver color scheme). These are probably the nicest headphones in any price range. Please note that they come in many colors and should appeal to many people. Processing quality: Due to the processing quality, I unfortunately have to deduct a star. Let me be transparent and frank, the overall build quality is good, but there are a few issues. The first pair I received had a flimsy adjustment tab that kept slipping; this affects the fit of the headphones. The second pair was much better but I'm not sure how well they will hold up over time. Constantly adjusting your headphone strap can wear it out over time. The sliding metal rod is simply held together with a rubber seal. Another issue I had with the second pair is that the magnetic ear pads keep slipping and don't fit snugly into the metal case. I'm sure it won't fall, but a nuisance nonetheless. I believe this is because the three guide pins that hold the leather pads are a bit short, giving the pads some play. I'll have to see how well these parts hold up over time. Comfort: Considering how heavy these headphones are, they're actually very comfortable for long listening sessions. This is ensured by the ultra-soft lambskin ear pads. Also, the clamping force of these earbuds is not too strong and they don't slip on your head. I wear glasses and still find them comfortable enough to listen for about 2 hours at a time. I can't say that about other on-ear headphones like the Beats Studio 2 Wireless. They're almost as comfortable as the Sennheiser Momentum M2 on-ear headphones, which are by far the most comfortable I've ever used. You may need to play with positioning when they are on your head for the best comfort and sound. Sound: Well, I was really impressed by the sound quality of these headphones. I didn't expect a fashion conscious headphone manufacturer to make headphones with such great sound. These are the best balanced headphones I've owned compared to the Beats Studio 2 Wireless, B&W P5 and Sennheiser Momentum M2. The low frequencies are very well defined and never overlap another frequency range. The bass is present but never overwhelming. The mids aren't overly exaggerated like the Sennheiser Momentum and not as bright. The highs are where it shines for me. They sound airy and not shrill at all. Overall, the sonic signature of these headphones tends towards the darker side and sounds very intimate. They are also good for long listening sessions as they don't tire you out. They sound similar to the B&W P7 but a little darker. One thing they could improve on is the presentation of the soundstage. While the soundstage is realistic and compelling, it's not as wide as that of Sennheiser or the B&W P7. But in the end I think the M&D MH40 will do well with many genres of music and will offer listeners a balanced sound. If you've ever heard Sonus Faber speakers, these headphones sound just like them. Conclusion: These headphones are definitely aimed at people who are more high fashion oriented and who also appreciate great sound. From an audiophile point of view, these headphones are a great tool for enjoying a great music experience without sacrificing aesthetics. ***Note: I have used my MacBook Pro Retina, iPhone 7 plus and Fiio K1 to power these headphones.
