I used a thin hiking backpack to carry my laptop and some books to and from work. I bought this backpack hoping it would stand up and stay open better than my old one and I was glad it does just that. The valve opens well so everything in my pack is accessible and the pack itself stands up well. I can easily fit my 32 ounce water bottle in one of the side pockets and my 20 ounce coffee mug in the other. Excellent purchase!
