Cord overheats, but players plays great!

I bought this for my daughter who will be taking a road trip soon. She loves it. However, I noticed the cord seems to overheat. I don't feel comfortable leaving it plugged in very long to charge. Has anyone else had this issue? Also, although the carrying case is nice and matches the DVD player and headphones, the case doesn't comfortably fit the headphones AND the DVD player together, which is kind of the point of having a carrying case. You want to it to hold your items and accessories. Other than these 2 things, the DVD player itself seems to work okay.
