These lights get 5 stars when software control works as intended. -Place spring 2020. The software controls the light on/off function, as well as the color temperature and light intensity. However, the light can only be turned on with software that can be installed on the phone and/or computer. I installed the software on a MacBook Pro (2016 dual-core i7 processor) and an iPhone X. The software communicates with the lights via Wi-Fi. I have a brand new google mesh wifi network and the lights are in a 4 bar wifi zone. The initial setup was easy. The lights have been set up and connected to WiFi within the last 2+ weeks. Unfortunately, the lights do NOT stay connected to Wi-Fi. So if you want to turn the light on or off, you just can't. Here's what happens: In the morning, when I try to turn on the light using the software for my first meeting of the day, I usually see a message " to connect - open the WiFi menu and add a new device." - Sometimes if I wait 10 minutes or more, the light control mysteriously becomes available. There is no way to turn the light on manually. To do this, they need software. Sometimes controls for one light source and MIA to control the second light source are available. If I can get a light or two working, cheers! The intensity and color control is fantastic! Ideal for video calls. However, during a conference call that lasts 30 minutes or longer, the controls mostly become unresponsive. The light is on, but I can't turn it off through the software. I'm then forced to turn the light off manually, which basically turns the light off and makes it impossible to turn it back on with the software. I've factory reset the lights and reconnected them to WiFi a few times to try. and debug. I've reset my Wi-Fi network a few times to try and debug (Google Nest Mesh's Wi-Fi is great and works fine!). I really, really want to love these lights and would be happy if any software issues can be resolved. Ooooo buggy.
