It works and it's compact, but I didn't like a few things about the filter of this design. First, it does what it's supposed to, but filters very slowly. Second, the type of bag used (like other similar devices) is not very user friendly and difficult to fill with streams. My comparison device was the Katadyn Be Free. We had a two day hike and wanted to try some new filters. This filter works well as a backup/emergency filter, but if you use it regularly, get Be Free.
