Use caulking, not regular pipe and joint sealant, it will leak.
pump works great. I placed a pump on the end of my hot water return line and a pump on the cold water side of the water heater. Instant hot water everywhere. Insulated the pipes and increased the underground temperature by only 2 degrees. For installation, use 3/4 inch fittings with a gasket, like a water heater.
