Durability. My husband is in the home improvement business and has watery skin. The metal buckles on his pants recently caused him to explode. The gum seems to have stopped this. Update: We first purchased this belt on April 1st, 2017. It is now 08/11/2019. Since then, my husband has worn this belt every day. He works on the streets and does hard labor. He runs his clothes through the bell like no other. I even change caps a lot because they get banged to hell. I bought him a tread for armored boots (also recommend) and he COMPLETELY wore out the grip in a year from working so hard. This belt STILL works. Most of the rubber has worn away from the buckle within 2 years of heavy and brutal use of the item. It's seen hot days, cold days, common elements and still works great. Since we have the rubber to keep the metal from touching his skin, I just threw another one in the Amazon's cart. We definitely recommend it.
