Bigger than it looks and more powerful!

For years I've used a full size shredder, a micro shredder and now this guy. At the moment this is the best option. For starters, if you need a paper shredder for continuous use, you won't find it here. If you need to grind for many hours, you've spent the money on a full-size commercial grinder. On the other hand, if you occasionally destroy a contract or a credit card statement, that is perfectly sufficient. I tested this shredder as soon as I received it because I bought it to shred a large stack of paper. must be destroyed to make room (tax returns, credit card statements, etc.). The device is POWERFUL for its size. Its blades are small but powerful. Seriously, you can hear this thing spinning like a little jet engine ready to gobble paper. You CAN overload it with continuous 6-sheet shredding (bad idea to shred many multi-paper jobs at the maximum thickness the shredder is rated for), but if you let it breathe a little between jobs and only a few pages dispense a time, it manages it well. I expected the machine to get stuck after shredding this huge stack of paper, and it did, but I was able to clear it without too much trouble (I wish the hole was a little wider so I could easily pin the jammed paper in could pry out). needle-nosed pliers, but that's the only downside to the device I've found). A few minutes back, forth, and a few pulls with the pliers and a jam cleared with no further problems. The really nice thing is that this device appears to be good with paperclips and has a good container size for a product in this low price range. It's all over now. I was expecting a piece of junk for very small jobs in this price range and was overjoyed to find that this unit was a step ahead. Enough power, cuts perfectly. Just don't try to let it run for an hour and destroy paper, folders and 6 pages at the same time. Load a few pages at a time or one thick sheet at a time and let it cool down every few minutes and it will last a long time. Or at least longer than my last mini shredder. It's toast.

Pros
  • Cut to Length: Converts paper into 3/16" x 1-9/16" (5 x 40 mm) confetti-like pieces; meets P-3 safety standards
Cons
  • Out of fashion
