Seems unusual these days. All I wanted was a keyboard with backlit keys, nothing fancy just something easier to see if I dim the lights a bit at night. The last two I tried were gaming keyboards, which ended up being nothing more than a display piece, emitting light from seemingly everywhere *except* the keycaps, contrary to what the pictures and descriptions might lead you to believe . Refreshingly, this one looks and works exactly as shown in the pictures. Even sitting fairly low in my chair, only a little light is visible under the keycaps, and all characters are still well-lit and easy to see. My eyesight isn't bad enough that HUGE letters are necessary, but it's definitely not a question of which key you press. I prefer red backlighting, but all three colors are pretty good. The overall quality is about what I would expect from a budget keyboard of any kind. Not as sturdy as an old mechanical IBM, but it's not going to break anytime soon unless you plan on hammering nails in or something. So yes, take this one. It's not expensive, does what it's supposed to and seems to last a while. I'm definitely happy with mine!
