Good Potential but Issues

We've used this bag for two trips so far. It replaced a J Childress Ultimate Backpack. The J Childress didn't fit our Diono car seat correctly (obviously), but we ordered it on relatively short notice because we couldn't get this one in time.My initial reaction was positive. The straps seem like they'd be awkward, but I didn't have any issue. The bag rode lower and more comfortably than the J Childress. The car seat fit really well (obviously). There's a nice pocket for storing the straps. The material seemed more substantial than the J Childress.Unfortunately, the positive reaction hasn't lasted. When we returned home from our second trip (4 total flights using the bag), the top clip for the "backpack" configuration broke off while walking through the airport. We use the backpack configuration pictured on their website, always remove the straps when we check it, and never put anything inside it except our car seat.We were also surprised at the degree of wear on the bag. I've attached an image of several small holes that have already appeared. We checked the bag at the counter (not the gate), but there's no indication that it's not intended for this purpose. The J Childress specifically says that it's a "gate check" bag. We checked it at the counter anyway so I was less surprised when it had similar damage.

Pros
  • DIONO CONVERTIBLE CAR SEAT COMPATIBLE - Makes transporting all Diono Radian convertible car seats a total breeze. Measures: (H 80 cm x W 45 cm x D 25 cm / H 31.5 in x W 17.7 in x D 9.8 in)
Cons
  • Despite the padded shoulders, the backpack may not be comfortable to wear for long periods of time, causing strain or discomfort

Sturdy bag that is a tight fit. O’Hare was really rough on it. One small tear that I plan to patch and use it again for our trip to Hawaii.
