This is my first badger hair brush so I can't compare it to other badger hair but I have to say this brush is based on other brushes I have. has no spine. They are very soft and I doubt that these hairs really belong to a badger and not a furry rat. Or the butt of a badger, that's not a piece of wood anyway. Also, it doesn't smell very bad, but like a slightly wet cat with hints of hickory. As for the good points, it can still lather well. The handle is screwed and fits well in the hand, but is a bit small. In summary, it's hard to wholeheartedly recommend this brush when you can buy a razor monster for $11, but if you've ever wanted to try a badger without dropping $30, then yes, go for it it off. You might not regret it.
