The case is pretty sturdy and seems to offer good protection from falls. Since it doesn't have a screen protector, I bought one separately. The main problem with the quality of the product is that the small valves that close the external ports do not stay closed. There are also small gaps around the case. For these reasons I don't think it offers protection from sand, dirt and dust. The small stand only allows you to support the iPad at a 45 degree angle. Usually this is a terrible viewing angle causing a lot of glare. With previous iPads, I've spent the extra money on more durable cases. This time I had to do the same.
