Review on Klipsch Heritage Wireless Tabletop Stereo Cell Phones & Accessories by Marisa Sath

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Beautiful with good sound (as is)

If you're looking at The Three you're probably intrigued by the looks and our experience is that the sound quality is on par with most high quality mono speakers. First, it looks just as good in real life as it does in the photos. 5/5 for design and build quality, it looks great in our modern home. If you're going for looks, make sure the audio is good, and you can stop reading right here. A little more complicated: This is a basic Bluetooth connection setup with its associated advantages and disadvantages. Flip the switch and it's almost ready to use. The only weird thing is that the volume control works regardless of the volume of your source, sort of old school. So you can control the volume on your phone, but I think you need to find a balance so you don't get background hiss if you turn the source or speaker too much. In terms of sound quality, although it sounds pretty good in the bedroom. In a small room, the mids are a bit weak and washed out, so it doesn't fill a large room without getting boomy. But that's true of almost all small/medium mono speakers, so I can't fault it too much. The bass is a little too heavy even with the iPhone equalizer setting typical of this type of speaker. Overall, they sound about the same as most $200 speakers, but you're paying more for the design and build quality. For comparison, let me first say that nothing can replace stereo pairs. The triple fills the room quite well, but doesn't create a wide soundstage like a stereo pair of speakers does. We have a pair of Sonos 1s in our kitchen and The Three sound better on their own, but they can't quite compete with a stereo pair. For us, this is the perfect speaker for our bedroom, and we leave the 'hard work' to our hi-fi system, the hidden stereo needs of Sonos, and appreciate The Three for what it is: a beautiful and compact speaker that sounds really good.
