I bought this at first thinking it would work with my Canon XF-300. It is not. The camera's electronic viewfinder extends too far back to be used with the electronic viewfinder. And while you can use it with a fold-out LCD screen, you just lose too much detail. However, it has become my favorite shoulder mount for my Canon 7D MkII and Canon 5D MkIII. Installing the Hoodman Custom Finder Baseplate Kit with Hoodman 3.2 Magnifier on the cameras of this setup puts the eyepiece exactly where it should be fore and aft, but I had to create a shoulder pad using some microfiber cloths and velcro. The extra padding not only raises the eyepiece of the magnifier to eye level, but also makes the shoulder pad more comfortable. I can shoot all day with this thing on my shoulder. By adding a remote control cable to the grip (below left), I can scroll and pause the recording under my index finger and control other camera adjustments like zoom and focus with my left hand. This little rig is lightweight but very well built. While it can certainly support the weight of a large 3-chip camcorder like the XF300/305, it's ergonomically much better suited to DSLRs and smaller consumer camcorders.
