My TV only has an optical audio output and I wanted to connect headphones to it because of my poor hearing, so I bought a different brand/model DAC beforehand, which turned out to be basically useless since it only supports PCM/LPCM audio sources. Almost everything I watch on the TV is in Dolby 5.1 Surround. Every time I wanted to use a DAC for 2-channel analog output, I had to switch my TV's 5.1 audio output setting from DTS 5.1 to PCM/LPCM. This took the purpose out of my expensive Bose surround audio system, which my wife loves to listen to. This DAC fully supports Netflix 5 audio signal. 1+ and sounds amazing with no audio latency. The investment is worth it for me!
