Review on πŸ’‘ TORCHSTAR Basic Series 12-Pack 10W 4 Inch LED Recessed Lighting: Efficient Illumination With Junction Box by Douglas Davis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Attractive, smart, economical, easy to install, functional

I basically bought this lamp for $12. This is very cheap compared to what recessed lighting used to cost. There is a lot to be said for this: 1. The price is right2. Looks very nice installed3. Robust, high-quality mechanical design of the lights4. Very easy to install - no time-consuming screwing of boxes into beams like in the good old days. The light is the thickness of the drywall and the clamps on the drywall. You just need to make a round hole and connect.5. If a device breaks down, the supplier replaces it immediately (within a few days) free of charge and without further questions. So far I have installed 22 units and 2 had to be replaced. In my opinion, once replaced, it lasts almost forever. So 10% fail soon (< a few weeks) after installation when they are supposed to go bad. The remaining blocks have served a year without problems.6. Consumes very little electricity. Generates very little heat. I bought warm white. Very nice colour9 Nice and bright. Just the right brightness for me. However, I also installed some of them with a dimmer for mood control. Note. Although I've had 2 failures (out of 22 installed) they seem very reliable once the failed units have been identified and replaced. Bad units are inherently doomed, while good units are built like tanks. Very robust overall mechanical design. In both cases, the headlights themselves were fine. What has gone bad are the power supplies, which are in separate junction boxes. I feel well made. Once replaced, blocks should last practically forever for all intents and purposes. Everyone who has seen the lights has many good things to say about them.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
