At the moment I give the device an average rating. It has many great features and the picture is good both day and night. It takes some effort to get used to the software, but once you've done that, you'll be able to make basic adjustments fairly well. As you become more familiar with the software, you will have questions about some of the different features that will be difficult, if not impossible, to answer. Annke's support FAQ page usually helps you out, but the lack of live interaction is frustrating. I sent a question and haven't received an answer yet. For those who have this set up to receive email alerts when motion is detected, get ready to receive 1000+ notifications a day. The emails contain three snapshots of what the camera sees. Your results may vary based on where you live, as the software detects flying insects and lots of email. Yes, I set the sensitivity to its lowest setting, which is ridiculously high. The minimum value you can set is 20. I also tweaked the motion grid to reduce the number of motion alerts, which worked well and reduced the number of emails per day from 2000 to 1000. This alert feature is almost useless at this level of email. Maybe they are working on software to reduce motion sensitivity. It even captures a moving tree swaying in the wind from a great distance. It just needs more customization to be useful to the user. Now for the biggest problem I had with this device. I have configured to only record video when motion is detected. (It's much better to only record movement when there are larger objects, it doesn't record every fly passing by, but it still records a lot of useless movements.) What worries me the most is that the recording stops 5 times now . I go into the software to look at the hard drive and it is in the abnormal state. I can't find an answer as to why this is happening. I've noticed a lot of people on the help pages have had hard drive problems, and it seems I'm no exception. For this reason I give this device a rejection. The good thing is that you can't record an event when it's supposed to happen. It's still possible that I have the wrong setting, but I've looked everywhere and all the settings seem correct. Until they come up with a more reliable hard drive system, I feel like I've wasted my time and money. I'm sure I will spend more time working on this topic I don't want to waste time on but what choice do I have right now? Spend a day removing hardware to ship back?
