When I saw aluminum tires (with blue foam) on the internet, I was surprised and intrigued that when they arrived they were blue and not the color of natural aluminum. After wearing it for several hours, I realized that the blue color is a plastic protective layer that is peeling off. I would also like blue. The hoop (I've only used the smallest of the three tires so far) was pretty easy to use. It's flexible enough to be placed on the right number (my pinky). The velcro was easy enough to attach but not very comfortable to get the desired tightness. The strap was attached hook side (handle side) out, meaning it will stick to my clothes, blanket or whatever; but at least he was holding up well. Tired of this aggressive behavior, I flipped the strap so the looped side was out; It turned out to be much friendlier to those around me. But the strap didn't seem to stick to itself either (why? Same two surfaces, just facing in opposite directions). The splint was quite comfortable for the first few days, but now that I've been wearing it for 9 days, the strap doesn't close well at all. The last inch or so comes loose and snags on things, which is pretty annoying. The foam looks like everything is packed (compressed) so it no longer offers enough softness and leaves a slightly dingy aluminum hoop edge on my finger that gets a bit uncomfortable. Aluminum is supposed to be flexible, but when I squeezed it to dry or secure the strap, even light pressure deformed the loop securing the base/end of the strap, and possibly deformed the hoop as well (maybe). I can't say for sure, but there was something). It seems to me that this splint should be very limited and disposable. It wasn't the cheapest tire (at least considering how many were in the pack); and wasn't the most expensive. However, I thought it would outlast this injury/use and for years to come. But with a band that won't stay closed and the foam stops working (after a week!) and the metal warps, it looks like it should have been a one-off. Maybe I expected too much, but I expected more!
