That's a great idea and it worked really well at first. If you bake fresh bread and live in a very humid climate, then don't expect miracles from this bread bin. It helps keep the bread longer, but when we tried to figure out how long we found that putting the bread in the fridge after about 3 days was safest. This is NOT the fault of the product, the reason I deducted a star is because you will have a hard time putting the box on it when you have a large home made loaf. I use a bread maker most of the time. So if you're baking a big family bread, think twice before you buy it. I will continue to use it although we have decided to try traditional stainless steel now as we have tried 'unattractively practical' and are now transitioning to 'pretty'. and let it sink in!"
