Disappointing. Steam doesn't work well.

My husband and I have been using this iron for a year (almost a day!). We really wanted to like it, and we tried to like it, but in the end we just couldn't take it. We recently bought a cheaper Hamilton Beach model that works much better. Firstly, the platen of this iron is not that smooth. I have some shirts that I wouldn't iron because I could feel the plate sticking to them. I usually avoid non-stick coating - at least on cookware - but I have to admit that with an iron it's necessary. The cheaper iron I bought feels like ironing floss compared to this one. It's heavy and I thought it would be a nice feature. But I don't feel at all that the weight helped make the clothes smooth. It just seems hard to be hard. I could live with that but the worst thing about this iron is the terrible steam function! There was never enough steam with this iron. It would evaporate a little from time to time, but it gave off a hit and that was it. I ironed and ironed, kept pressing the red steam button but to no avail. Maybe he'll send another train in 20 seconds. May be. And if you tip it over (which is easy to do since it's so heavy) it leaks because there's no cover over the waterhole. Every other iron I've had had some sort of cover over this opening.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Minor flaws
