The chair was easy to assemble and looks good. However, the quality is far from what you would expect from a $179 chair (that was the price when I bought it). he foolishly proceeded to complete his montage. It was strong enough and comfortable enough for short-term use. On the carpet, however, it is completely unsuitable. The base is so light that it will tip over as soon as you shift your weight to get off the chair. With a small child at home, the stool was dangerous. And so began a 5 day odyssey trying to ask the seller how to take it apart so it could be returned. The seller was responsive and tried to help, but it was clear from the start that the stool would not fall apart again. So it really can't be returned, right? Eventually, Revain was able to sort things out for me, but I don't recommend this bar stool unless it's under $70 and you don't have young children at home.
