I hope I never have to activate this alarm, but carrying it gives me a greater sense of security. The battery quickly charges and holds its charge for a long time. The device is small enough to fit in my hand, so i can have it ready at all times; especially in parking lots, dark streets, subways, etc. I keep it in my hand not in my handbag, because in an emergency, I won’t have time to search for it. As other reviewers have mentioned, the alarm is very loud; loud enough to make a potential culprit change his mind, or to draw passerby attention to an unsafe situation. The strobe light also seems to be a good deterrent because it is super bright. Unlike some other deterrents you don’t have to be close to the person for it to give someone pause. The pin was easy to remove but it does require a tug. That makes sense because you don’t want to have it go off accidentally.But honestly, the most important first step in protecting yourself is to scan your surroundings and anticipate potential problems. The next step is to have a way to stop anyone from getting close to you. This alarm can help with that.
