I have it set where the corners of the mesh are at the center of each side. I also used zip ties instead of the enclosed bungie cords and set it up so that when the unit is on it will lift up the mesh. My AC guy said that the bigger the mesh the better, but those are much more expensive so I compromised by zip tying it loosely so that when it is on the mesh floats above the unit and there is no strain on the unit pushing the air out. When the unit is off the mesh sits on top of the unit and nothing can fall into the unit. See the attached photos for the set up and when it is running. I have a 32"x32" unit and ordered the 32" mesh.
