The button making machine is heavy duty, durable and easy to use. The main body appears to be made of durable plastic rather than metal, but it's sturdy. The assembly instructions included in our box were unclear, but we found a video online that explains how to put it together and how to use it. Creating a button requires two steps. You slide the mechanism to the side to attach the paper and plastic to the raised metal button, then slide to the other side to attach the backing. One recommendation is to cut the paper slightly smaller than the plastic lids. It doesn't have to be precise - just big enough to cover the button itself. It shouldn't be larger than plastic as it can collect around the perimeter of the button. We loved making buttons and easily made several dozen at a time with very few glitches.
