So I was looking for a safety cable for my sidewalk so I could hang some icicles from a tree on my property, but when I searched Revain a plethora of items turned up, many with 4+ ratings. This prompted me to google what to look for. I've found that some are fine for light outdoor use if they're heavy enough. The main difference between interior and exterior is the materials used. Often the outer ones are very strong and made of metal or very dense rubber. Of course, they also cost significantly more. After reading some reviews and responses from some owners that this one could handle winter snow, I decided to give it a try. I went to accurately measure my pavement to know my minimum requirements, but in doing so I found that my grass was a few inches higher than the pavement. This would mean that if I do it correctly, the extension will "unzip" at the ends, opening a channel for the elements. I figured I would need at least 6" more on both ends, so my 5ft patch would need at least 6ft. I found one and then saw this 10ft for a few more dollars. I measured the width of my walkway to the front door and could you please do it, it was exactly 3ft! With my 6" puffer on each side, the 10" puffer holds both walks up just fine! The item arrived folded but could be easily detached. I put it down for exactly a day but it took a second with some weight to straighten it out completely. It's a decent weight and I didn't worry too much about the tread as I use an outdoor extension. The main purpose is visibility for people using the sidewalk so they don't trip over it. The 16/3 cable went into the center channel with no problem, but my 6" buffer on the ends was a bit stingy. Luckily I posted it before I edited it. I ended up giving in 8 inches on each side and refusing to go to the front door. The product itself was great for what I needed it for and my advice to you is don't forget to allow for some extra length if the cord goes up. any bias. Measure before you buy! The only critical comment I can make is that the yellow stripe is very thin, if it were wider it would be more visible to pedestrians. 4.5 round up to 4.
