They are thin but delicate. The problem is that they are made in China and are NOT a genuine French jacquard/tea towel. Hence the price for 3 pieces in a set. Don't expect them to be as strong as the original. They are made of cotton but not Turkish cotton which is used in real things. The absorbency needs to be determined but I have my doubts as they are simply different from reality. Pay more and get the quality you're looking for. Good for a cheap gift paired with something else in the tea basket, not for a relative/best friend.
