I have bought one of the latest Nikon FM=3a models. Everyone seems to have gone digital, but I love shooting in extreme conditions, usually when the temperature is well below zero. I have several digital cameras but I am concerned that I will be able to shoot in very cold conditions. A regular film camera without autofocus is a good choice. If the basic electronics fail, you can still shoot with an external light meter or with exposure bracketing (by stopping up and down from what you think is the best exposure). Of course I also photograph friends, family and pets indoors or at night. To do this, you need a flash. Based on 228 reviews, the SB-400 AF is a popular flash. However, it's a bit pricey and I'd happily spend less if I could. Hence the SB-23 VF. This works on cameras without autofocus. It flashes with a bright flash, which is more than adequate for the camera. The light is bright and color balanced so the negatives appear realistic. Four and a half stars for the Nikon SB-23 AF. I'm happy with it and I think you will be too.
